About P.R.KeysIt all started on a dare.
I have always loved stories. As a child of a military officer, I learned the art of a good story at a very young age through my family's travels. My family wandered all around the globe for some time before settling in Maryland during my high school years. While in Maryland, I was drawn to the art of the printed word. I became Editor-in-Chief of my high school newspaper, a role I maintained until graduation. When I enrolled in Wesleyan College, I predictably declared Journalism as my major. While attending, I resurrected a defunct college student newspaper and published a quarterly student literary magazine. |
After determining that journalists did not make as much money as I hoped, I switched my major to American Studies with the goal of forgetting about writing and becoming a lawyer (because lawyer's and doctors earn the most, right?). I applied and was accepted into the Thomas M. Cooley Law School of Western Michigan University. Once admitted, I endeavored to apply myself fully to that career.
I graduated from law school and began to practice law in a boutique law firm for several years. With my new-found experience, I then decided to strike out alone and open my own law practice. Along the way I married my sweet and supportive husband, Michael, and gave birth to our precocious and lovable son. But I never lost my love of writing - after composing several unfinished and unpublished short stories, I was tasked to write story lines for a comic series called Loving Working Marriages. I wrote story lines for a year but was still affected by the writing bug when the project concluded. It was then that I was challenged by my best friend to write a full-fledged novel. So I did. I have discovered that no matter how long I practice law, I will always return to my first love, writing. - PRKeys |
